Beauty Uses for Salt

It might sometimes be blamed for bloating, but salt holds a treasure of hidden beauty properties. From exfoliation to actually reducing puffiness in skin, try these uncommon — and incredibly effective — uses for the kitchen staple.
BEACH-WAVES SPRAY FOR HAIR: To create perfectly textured waves, dissolve a teaspoon of sea salt into an 8-oz. spray bottle of warm water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid coconut oil and a dab of hair gel. Then just shake and mist.
BATH SOAK: Mix a cup of sea salt with a few drops of almond, coconut, or another essential oil and pour into running water. Adding salt to a bath permits less water to be absorbed by the body, reducing skin’s ‘pruning’ effect on fingers and toes.
DANDRUFF TREATMENT: Work crushed sea salt into the scalp before wetting hair to loosen flakes and better enable scalp treatments to penetrate.

A drop of extra virgin oil keeps the wrinkles away

The skincare industry is a booming industry. Every year, consumers spend billions of dollars on cleansers, toners, and moisturizers with the goal of destroying blemishes forever yet and hoping to restore the beautiful youthful glow we see on models in magazines. The problem with so many skincare products is that many have harsh ingredients that irritate the skin, including bleaching agents and fragrance. It seems like a losing battle because to kill pimples – One has to dry the heck out of his or her skin to get rid of acne, which strips the skin of essential oils that are needed to hydrate the skin and balance the pH levels. Do you notice that many of these skincare products also have natural ingredients infused in them, like extra virgin olive oil, which we as consumers feel somehow comforted knowing that we’re putting something on our faces that includes “natural ingredients?” So what are we supposed to do?
