Osu Female Undergraduate Student Dies Vomiting Blood

Few weeks back, the Law faculty of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State was thrown into mourning, as a student in the Faculty, Rahamat Fatigun, died in a mysterious way after vomitting blood, this was on the 23rd of September 2012. The lady, a first year Law student, died at her parents Alagbado residence, in the suburb of Lagos. The late Rahamat, is the only daughter of her parents 4 kids. On the day of her death, Rahamat, we learnt went on outing with a group of her friends, to the Elegushi Beach, Lekki, and on returning home, she went straight to her room, had a shower; and went to bed. Her siblings didn’t bother to disturb her when she sauntered in, they assumed she was already tired after a nice time at the popular Beach with her friends, hence their decision to let her be for the night, they reasoned that the following morning, they would ask her how the fun went at- Elegushi.

The following morning, however; around 5:45, her brothers, with whom she usually observed the early morning Muslim prayers (Suhbi) were surprised to still find her door locked, because she is usually the first person to wake up in the house and in turn, wake every other person up for the early morning prayer: This got all of them worried and curious, so they forced the door open into her room, after several knocks and bangs on the door were not answered by her; only to find Rahamat stone dead, with clotted blood in her mouth.
They were all shocked and confused at this discovery, and so they made frantic efforts to rush her to a nearby hospital but all was in vain, as she was already dead. A close family source revealed that the 17 year old Rahamat died of food
poisoning, allegedly from what she must have taken and eaten during her outing with her friends at the Beach. Although,
she told only her brothers she was going out with her friends but no one could finger the particular friend she went out
with. The late Rahamat is the 3rd child of the family. Brilliant and very smart, she never lacked anything as she was doted on as the only female child of the family Her varsity admission was easy, she made her W.A.S.S.C.E and UME at once. Many who heard about her sudden death wondered what could have led to the food poisoning. Those who know her
say she was very respectful and easygoing. She rarely complained over anything.
She attended Mic Bay for her Primary and Secondary education, both in Alagbado, where she always came first in her classes. She practiced Islam very religiously, everything about her lifestyle was simple and moderate.
