I woke up at about 5am…hmmmm was it really 5am, I think I snoozed my alarm twice before I could struggle with disengaging from the safe and warm embrace of hubby and the duvet. Seriously, why do I have to get up at 5am anyways…my workplace is only about 45minutes away. If only I wasn’t living in Lagos. Okies, I started the ritual of getting ready for work. Luckily, I set out everything I needed the night before. Everything apart from my handbag…on this occasion, I wasn’t interested in any of my other handbags. Why do we even bother to buy so many considering the stress of changing from one to the other….this is for my friends that think I am a shopaholic…now I just get to admire the bags that I like and move on. Its official!!! I cannot own/buy them all. It seems once you have paid for the bag and taken it home, the beauty that attracted you to it in the first instance fades away….#phew#
At about 5:30am, I moved on to mummy duties…don’t even let me start on that one. After the initial I want this, I don’t want that…I got to the point where we were ready for work/school. Oh yea, It was already about 6:02am…where did the time go. I rushed downstairs to feed my pet goldfish only to realize it has gone on hunger strike. Its feed from last night was floating in the little aquarium…. I was about to clean it up and then thought…dear Flakky (goldfish’s name), please stay alive, till I return from work. I will sort you out by then.
And then we were all ready to leave the house….at about 6:20am after the initial drama of looking for my housekeys. We set out on the road….I was quite pleased that we were leaving the house very early. Little did I know that the roads had more in store for us. We got stuck somewhere along the way, I mean on the same spot for over 30mins….in this Lagos. Where are we all going sef…hehehehehehehe I remember one day in Ibadan, I had an examination on the other side of town and in order to avoid the traffic that I was used to in Lagos, I decided to leave my house at about 5.45am. After driving for about 15mins, the police stopped me and actually asked me where I was going at 6am. Lagosians!!! Food for thot!!!
Today I got to work at about 9.30am…..imagine that I woke up at 5:30am, I left home at about 6.20am, no breakfast, no make up…no extra sleep….God dey!!!! Heheheheheehe But seriously, what causes the traffic in Lagos…and don’t even tell me that I should have left earlier. My sister that left at about 5am didn’t get to work until about 8am. Pending when I can port my house from my village to Lekki, Ikoyi or VI…how do we survive this inevitable traffic?????????
hmmmm. Lagos City!! Guess u're still gonna hear this. Wake up earlier.
