I have been on a break for the last few weeks. Yes, everybody deserves a break..I know you don’t really take a vacation from life but in my mind, I like to give myself such luxuries. What was the reason for my break, you would ask? Well DH was out of town for about 2weeks and just like any family where the head of the house is not around, I decided to enjoy my break by doing what I sometimes know how to do best – NOTHING!!! I watched DSTV like it was going out of fashion. Oh yeah, that was when I discovered that DSTV repeats the same movies day in, day out…what nonsense!!!! I don’t even want to go on about the fact that we are not getting real value for our very high monthly subscription.
As the days roll by, it occurred to me that I was trying not to miss him. Day 1 was not bad, apart from the fact that I had to go drop him for his ride at about 3:30am which meant I was grouchy for the remaining part of the day, every other thing went according to my routine. If truth be told, sometimes I enjoy the break from life. It gives me time to review my priorities, think about my relationship with everyone including God and also decide to make a better attempt at living. By Day 3, I was becoming uneasy – hmmmm, but he had to travel so I kept my cool. It wasn’t helping that he was so busy and didn’t have time for my usual chattering.
Me: what’s up na?
DH: I dey oh, missing you guys….
Me: We miss you too
DH: Let me call you back pls, love you.
Me: We haven’t even ……..wait….ok..love you. (What type of wahala is this now? I couldn’t get through to him on his mobile most times. And those communication providers insist that they got everywhere covered in Nigeria. *rolls eyes*)
Once in a while we were able to chit chat but he was so busy that I decided to live with whatever I could get. On a particular day, I decided to revolt.
Me: Hello, my name is Mrs Jegs, can I speak with Mr Jegs
DH: Honey, how are you?
Me: Who is your honey? I am Mrs Jegs and I want to speak with my husband. Please give the phone to him
DH: Sorry now…quite crazy over here.
Me: Should I come and help you?
DH: laughs……
Me: sha be calling your wife, Mr Jegs, call your wife!!!!!! Bye
DH: Ok, love you.
It didn’t help that DD was asking to speak with him. I mean he was just a phone call away but all of a sudden, even a call seemed old fashioned technology. Well, time flew by and it was time for him to return home. Now this is the very bad part…I was carried away by my little break that I didn’t notice that I over indulged. The house was in a real mess and I mean in total disarray!!!!!! I hope to get it ready before he returns.
I go love ooo
