I finally got out of bed and started my morning routine. The first thing I did was to wake DD before heading to the bathroom. She spends an average of 20minutes every morning attending to the call of nature, so the idea is to use her quiet time - that is what I call it... to get ready.
Me: wakey wakey baby
DD: is it time to wake up?
Me: yes dear
DD: I want to sleep
Me: That makes two of us, but it's time to wake up. Cou cou baby, do you want to go to school?
DD: yes
Me: it's time to wake up
DD: ok. Am I going to school
Me: Yes.
It's very funny how anytime she agrees, she proceeds to do what is necessary. Well, I must comment that today is one of my lucky days because the time it took to wake her up was less than the usual 5 minutes. And to think we have the same conversation every school day???? God bless mothers!
One of the tricks I learnt earlier in life is to prepare for the next day the night before. Sometimes, I use the weekend to organise my work clothes and DD's school clothes for the week. So this morning, there was no question of rummaging through the closet as all was set for us to dress up and leave the house. I have however come to realise that the days I forget to sort out my attire for the next day, I am usually hyper late!
Our ride to work in the morning is usually uneventful. I am usually between sleep or chatting with friends. I cannot listen to the radio anymore because DD has decided to memorise all the adverts. Especially the razz ones...in fact she seems to know the lines more than the advert composers.
After we dropped off DD, I switched to work mode. It was time to recall where I left off on Friday. At the very early stage of my career, during a training on work life balance, we were advised that it was important to be able to remove the work cloak when we closed and wear it back whenever we returned to work the next day. That was exactly what I did last Friday. As I applied my make up, I made a mental note of my outstanding tasks as I pulled the work cloak over my head.
Make up done, hair well brushed, ID card in place, I doubt if you would have recognised me, had you seen me 30minutes earlier. Hehehehehehe, oh as usual, I took a very cute picture and forwarded to DH, so he could catch a glimpse of how professional I looked. Ok, that really wasn't the purpose of the pix but we all know that. My shoes are usually the last thing that I wear before getting out of the car...because I am not one to remove my shoes during work hours. I am thus never in a hurry to put them on, since I will be wearing them for a minimum of 8 hours.
As we approached the office, I lifted my bag to slip my feet into the shoes. Lo and behold...they were not there...I searched under the car seats, lifted my bags again, searched inside my bag, checked everywhere, hmmmm, seems I kinda forgot my shoes at home. Oh dear......
Enjoying every piece of this! I can imagine... I see a prolific writer in you girl. keep it up.
