Patriotic Citizen!

I have made up my mind that whatever happens, I will be a good Nigerian and not complain about the crappy nature of things in our country. I am a patriotic Nigerian (straight face) and I am still looking forward to the days when everything will work well in this country like they do abroad. So I am being patient and I have promised that I wouldn't complain about the heat, lack of electricity, pot holes on the road, people doing their jobs and expecting to be tipped for not doing anything fantastic or rude customer care representatives.

But I have some questions  first being - why does my favorite juice - chivita taste differently. I loved that juice to pieces but all of a sudden it tastes like its been over diluted with water. I am still trying to figure out why and I intend to get to the bottom of it.

Secondly - why are some customer care people just nasty. I remember when I had to retrieve my line last week, I almost told the rude lady -
hey, do yu think I drove in that traffic just to listen to you give me an attitude??? If I didn't have an issue, I would not even come to your office in thhe first place. (Ok, I was not the one driving but I sat through the traffic!) I was actually at one of d telecommunications companies recently in a bid to retrieve my suspended line because I forgot my pin code. Don't blame me, its their job to keep it when we forget it. Ok, I should not have forgotten but I did - big deal! Child in hand, sweating because the air conditioner was not doing any justice to cooling the stuffy air. She looked up at me, asked what I wanted.

Me - I forgot my Pin code please and I would like to retrieve it.

Her - with a very nasty attitude - what is your phone no?

I gave her my phone no, she typed it wrongly and goes with a very disinterested look- you can't get that line back again - rolling her eyes as she did so. No reason, nothing!!! Then she continues with what she is doing.  Not giving up, I stated what I wanted again and gave her my no the second time. I don't know what she saw on the system but she mellowed and said, hold on one minute. I wanted to rake but I just wondered if I was going to rake for everybody all day. The security guard at the parking lot was already rude to us, the customer who came after me, jumped the queue...everyone was just testing my patience not to complain.

I have been true to my words and I haven't complained much, or have I? I feel like sueing my internet service provider for not giving me access to internet to enable me blog, I am stuck with blogging from my mobile phone that takes forever to load after paying my full subscription charges. I am angry at the Nigerian basketball team for starting on a good note but giving in to defeat after raising our hopes....ok, I am stopping there.

  2. Customer Service is really crappy in Nigeria and complaining about it doesn't make you less patriotic. Sometimes I think they are employed because they are experts on giving attitude.
