Baby Language things!
I am gradually becoming an expert at interpreting what our 2 year old is saying at a given point in time. I actually dance and scream in delight when I get the real meaning of a word. Who would blame me, you should try speaking with her on the phone to understand where I am coming from. For those who will be privileged to interract with her, especially for her big aunties whom she will be spending some couple of weeks with while I catch up on some beauty routine and massages (we have already agreed that I will call within 10mins after leaving her, so let's not go into that aspect). I have taken the liberty to interprete some of her baby talks, well she kinda mixes both english and french so I have made a list of the most common words. Here goes:
Maman = Mummy
Dada/Daddy = Daddy
Flower = Floru
Sit down = seedown
Asseyez toi (sit down in English)= A toi
Donne moi (Give me) = A moi
Barney = Barney (seriously?)
Tea, Beverage, Juice = Un bois (a drink) or je bois
I love you = I ruv whu
Big hug = Big hug
Teletubbies = hobbies
Everything on the floor = 'Bacte' Bacteria...(don't ask me why)
sucki sucki = literal meaning ( I still don't know how I taught her that)
On y va = Let's go
Mabinu (yoruba for don't be angry) = Maminu
Arret (stop) = Ahet
Chassures = shoe/chassures
And when she points a finger at you, rushing out words and saying a lot of stuffs that I am yet to decode = she simply means "I am warning you, stop harassing my mummy" Why do you think I call her my bodyguard.......hehehehehehehe
Moms out there, pls share some of your baby words, who knows, I may be able to decode more of hers. The communication gap is whew!!!!!
