My sexy new laptop........change management issues

My laptop's hard drive was threatening to crash a while ago and in a bid to replace it before it  betrayed me and gave me a massive heartache (because that is when I will remember my favourite documents). I decided to purchase a new one and at the same time keep up with new technology - which laptop do you think I bought - You guessed right, I purchased a Macbook Air - little did I know it was a whole new story entirely.

Of course I love the sleekness and the overall feel of using a mac but no one told me I was going to have a hard time getting a hang of the system. I was still dealing with the issues of using a french keyboard and getting frustrated that I cannot type away without my work looking like that of my 2year old playing with my system and here comes a nice cute lil buddy where my control keys are for something I am yet to understand.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that my spellings are completed without prompting, the scrolling effects, the computer kinda thinks for me...its cute and sleek (which I really love) but hey can you imagine my  frustration  when I was trying to copy and paste a document on my sexy new laptop and I could not figure it out. Don't even tell me to go read the manual, I think I did that already but I just don't understand why I need a manual to use a laptop! - Ok if truth be told, I do not like to read manuals - you know one likes to feel like a genius who can figure out complicated things (I really wish) but this time it is not working and I am not finding it funny.

I had to call my friend a couple of times to ask how to save a document or create a folder (I am not joking). A particular day, I needed to print screen and it was the height of frustration. I mean windows does that with just one button!  Ok to cut the long story short, I actually abandoned the laptop and went back to my faithful old DELL.  A number of my friends made jest of me that I bought a laptop and could not use it - my excuse, I had a thesis to write and was better off using a technology that I was used to......typical case of change management....hehehehehehe

Anyways, I woke up this morning and I am ready to crack the codes of this laptop....almost 5 months after purchasing it. So even though I still cannot find my delete button and I have to use backspace to delete wrong words, and I still don't understand why my mouse scrolls in the opposite directions nor why my function keys have a mind of their own. I am forging ahead and wanna build a new relationship with this laptop. I hope I don't run back to my DELL at the slight chance sha, oh my darling DELL, it has refused to crash now that its got competition.....imagine!!!

My little advice to apple...I am a sucker for your products and I am still saving to buy my iPhone4s (you can decide to dash me one) but improve on what we already have na and don't make all the skills I learnt in my computer school go to waste. Haba!
