Of text messaging, abbreviations and slangs

Hmmmm, ow dos 1 strt writn dis nw. M tryn 2 use d famous text lang n abbr, let's c hw wel I cn kip dis up. M getn a bit worrid abt D rate at wch we use slangs n  abbr dis days. yu cn c dt m nt vry gud at it cos I dnt gt to abbr a lot n e mre. well itz cos ve lent my lessns d hrd way. I thnk every1 shd tek a test of tryn to write a long note wout abbr n chk weda yu r amgst d pple dt m refering to! So itz nw vry cool n fashionable to use slangs n abbr esp wit d advent of the BBM n chats. Of cos some of d abbr r creative as far as m concerned 4 eg abbrv lyk..... TTYL, HWA, HBD, GGMUB, ILY, TLC, OMG r all creativ stuvs but m referring to d non creative ones used by d younga generatn - infact a lot of pple dis days in expressng dia sef. Hw did dey even come abt all dis words? 4 instance- Thanks = Fanks Is = iz Picture = pisture Whatever = wareva Leave me = Limme Ok, dts as mch as I cld cme abt. Yu cn assist with mre if yu ve some. My concern is dat dis are youngsters wu stil ve to write and pass english examinations  as a prerequisite for higher education. (Ok, I cannot keep up) I am getting really worried because we are also encouraging them. Even as a person, I get my spellings wrong a couple of times just because I indulged in abbrvs and slangs for a while. I know Jenifa has made it cool to be razz but honestly, when I start hearing news like a reduction in JAMB cut off marks because of a general poor performance. I get really worried for the future. I remember getting penalized in exams for not having a clear distinction between my letter M and W and my commandant made me write each letter 500times. What about spelling competitions? The pride in knowing how to spell very confusing words! Mayb insted of 4getn al our english lessons, we can ginger 1 of dis innovative electronics coy's to gve us an application/mobile phone dt transforms wat we wanna say into typed words. After all, we r in d digital age. Let's not forget all dose days we slaved hard learning with brighter grammar and reading books to improve our spoken and written english? Why are we trying to give that up? Why? Tell me why please
